What it is actually worth

Sales meetings, account planning, roadmap and the industry lens. Where standing market coverage changes a decision.

Four places, concretely.

Sales meetings. Walk in knowing what has happened at the account in the last month. Not a summary of their website, but what moved: a new system going in, a leadership change, an expansion into another market, a public complaint about a problem you happen to solve. The meeting stops being a discovery call and becomes a conversation. Outbound works the same way. One relevant first line beats a good template.

Account planning. The plans that get taken seriously are the ones with triggers in them. Who owns the budget now, what changed in their business this quarter, where a competitor has shown up, which use case is expanding. That is exactly what a standing customer watch produces, so the plan gets written from evidence instead of from memory in the week it is due.

Roadmap. Over a few months, patterns appear that nobody can see week to week. The same requirement turning up at three customers. A competitor shipping in the area you keep deferring. A standard or a regulation moving from talk to a working draft. That is roadmap input with dates and sources attached, which is a far easier conversation than competing opinions in a prioritisation meeting.

The industry lens. This one is hardest to measure and easiest to feel. Being the person in the room who knows what is going on changes how your input gets treated, internally and with customers. It used to cost evenings and weekends to be that person. Now it costs reading four reports a week.

There is one more benefit we did not design for. Everyone reads the same thing. Sales, product and management argue from a shared picture instead of three different half remembered ones. That alone removes a surprising number of pointless disagreements.

None of the value is in the reading. It is in the decisions that come out differently because the information was there in time.
